Rocky Horror Show opens
at Spier

[ Top ]

THE internationally acclaimed South African opera company Dimpho Di Kopane returns to Spier with two popular works: the cult phenomenon The Rocky Horror Show and the 18th century political satire The Beggar's Opera/Ibali looTsotsi.

Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show has all the ingredients that have made it a hit for over 30 years; sex, rock'n roll and gothic horror.

Dimpho Di Kopane has put their own particular spin on the presentation of this sinfully twisted salute to horror, sc fi, B movies and rock music.

Kurt Haupt plays the gender-bendering Dr Frank 'n Furter, a transvestite from the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of  .

Transylvania.
The show contains show stoppers including Time Warp and Hot Patootie and can be seen until the end of February.

* The Beggar's Opera/Ibali looTsosti has been a popular favourite for over 300 years. From 12 February the company presents a South African reworking of John Gay's political satire on self interest, public corruption and vice.

It is a world of pimps and prostitutes, thieves and cutthroats, a world turned upside down where only the criminals are capable of goodness.

Radiostasie skud sy vere reg

[ Top ]

Belangstellendes kan die stasie skakel by 871-1438 of aansoekvorms afhaal by die stasie.

The power of hypnosis

[ Top ]

WHETHER it's the power of hypnosis or the power of a great performance, André the Hilarious Hypnotist will have you spell-bound with his extraordinary ability to hypnotise ordinary people and get them to perform outrageously embarrassing feats in front of hundreds of strangers.

He will perform in the Paarl Town Hall tonight at 19:30 and in the Huguenot High school hall tomorrow at the same time.

He assures people that hypnosis is not harmful because you can't elicit behaviour people would not do consciously.

"Stage hypnosis draws people because they can be exhibitionists and not be accountable for their actions. It's just entertainment."

He learned hypnosis from his mentor, the late great Max Collie, and with professional drama training the performance aspect just comes naturally.

Tickets for tonight are available from Musiklood, Print Right and at the door. Tickets for Wellington can be bought at the Write Shoppe.
