Three weeks ago the local group started with crocheting and sewing, but Phathisanani also makes provision for art, beadwork, carpentry, welding, shoemaking, motor repairs, electrical work, plumbing, recycling and gardening.
The raw material is provided by the project and they also collect and market the services and products afterwards.
Members that are able, pay R10 per month for membership.
The project cares for HIV/Aids as well as TB patients, especially where patients have reached the terminal stage of the diseases and are family outcasts.
Mkhondweni said they have a major problem with collecting and delivering donations.
They collect food and other donations on a daily basis from farms and other businesses for distribution at schools and clinics.
The Project in Mbekweni is operating from a residential property converted into offices. They are in desperate need of office equipment, paying exorbitant fees for fax and e-mail facilities at the moment.
Any material, wool, patterns, knitting needles, crocheting pens, equipment or sewing machines will be most welcome.
People that want more information or want to help with donations can phone Thenyiswa Mzinzi, at 073-231-1731 or 868-3103. |
