	Joseph en Mary in Ou Meulteater Fliekmusiek vir oud en jonk Christmas music evening Premiére for Hospice

wkerse5 KERSLIGGIES. Vrydagaand het man en muis opgetrek na Kerkstraat op Wellington om deel te wees van al die jolighede wat die aanskakel van die Kersliggies voorafgaan. Karla Basson het Kerskoekieversierings gemaak en flink handel gedryf met Hanno Visser en Aden en Kyle Prins.

DIE toneelstuk "Die Joseph en Mary Affair" deur Ilse Oppelt en Malan Steyn en Ilse, Abduragman Adams, Charlton George in die rolverdeling, is vanaand om 20:15 in die Ou Meulteater in die Paarl te sien onder regie van Marthinus Basson.

So, issit dan nou 'n miracle, of wat?

Toe Speedy Cupido sê Gerty moet twenty past seven inklok vir 'n meeting was sy skepties, maar sy klok toe maar in, betyds.

Nie soos Munier wat laat was nie. Munier wens egter later hy het nooit opgedaag nie, want die kamtige meeting gaan dan oor 'n nativity play en hy wat Munier is, is mos 'n Moslem, maar dis ook oraait besef hy later, want hy speel mos maar net die Bethlehem ster en bou die stel.

Nie dat Gerty en Speedy se geloofskennis so waffers is nie, maar al worstelend deur die scripture en die script begin hulle nie net met repetisies nie, maar ook op 'n tog van selfontdekking.

Probleme is daar baie, van kostuums tot geloofsoortuiging, maar nie eens dit stuit hulle nie, ook nie gerugte dat die fabriek waar hulle werk gaan toemaak nie.

"Die Joseph en Mary Affair" is 'n toneelstuk met deernis en warmte wat die gehoor kort-kort sal laat lag en ook sal laat huil - 'n Goeie dosis Kaap!

Hierdie toneelstuk was 'n opdragproduksie by die Aardklop Kunstefees 2002 en ook die wenners van die Anglo Gold Smeltkroes Aardklop toekenning vir beste teks.

Fliekmusiek vir oud en jonk

VAN Casablanca tot Carousel, Grease tot Alladin, Yentl en Titanic, bekoor grootskerm musiektreffers al dekades lank filmgehore van alle ouderdomme.

Of jou gunsteling nou Gene Kelly se passies in die reën, Celine Dion se Titanic temalied of Olivia en John se somerliefde is, daar's sonder twyfel n' herinnering verskuil agter een of ander filmtreffer.

Van vandag tot Saterdag om 20:15 word al dié oomblikke en vele meer herleef in 'n verhoogvertoning, "Movies' greatest music", by die Oude Libertas Amfiteater op Stellenbosch.

Charl van Heyningen, Russel Savadier en Lisa Melman speel helde en heldin in 'n program wat met keur voorberei is deur filmkenner Alan Swerdlow en vir die verhoog aangepas is deur Fiona Ramsey.

Musieksnitte uit films so uiteenlopend soos Love Story, The Godfather, Fiddler on the Roof, Saturday Night Fever, Armageddon, Men in Black, The Full Monty en Moulin Rouge is vir die produksie musikaal verwerk deur Janine Neethling en talentvolle nuweling Chris Harper.

Dit word afgewissel met bekende filmgrepe en dialoog.

Skemerkonsert

Die eerste in die gewilde Oude Libertas Skemerkonserte is Congo Kwasa Kwasa Sondag om 18:00.

Rumba, soukous en Kongo jazz, wat as die 'vriendelikste' musiek op die Afrika-kontinent bekend staan, word aangebied deur 'n groep Kongolese musikante uit Kaapstad.

Die groep het al met groot sukses by Kirstenbosch, die V&A Waterfront en Mama Africa restourant opgetree.

Christmas music evening

GET into the Christmas spirit. The Groot Drakenstein Christmas music evening is turning into a wonderful annual event for the community.

A full music program is planned for Wednesday at 17:30 for 18:30 at the Groot Drakenstein Games Club, with choirs from Pniel and Paarl and there will be contributions from local musicians as well.

The emphasis will be on Christmas carols and a nativity play will be presented by the children.

Each child is encouraged to bring a present which will be given to Father Christmas and the gift will in turn be distributed to needy kids at the children's ward, Paarl hospital.

The proceeds from the event will go to a music development fund under the patronage of Mrs Wendy Pickstone and funds will be used to assist music development in the Groot Drakenstein area.

Come and support a worthy cause, bring a picnic supper and enjoy the proceedings in the wonderful surrounds of the Groot Drakenstein Games Club. Entry fee is R20 per adult and a cash bar is available at the club. The club facilities are safe and spacious for the children and various activities are being planned to keep the children occupied.

Premiére for Hospice

PAARL HOSPICE has scooped the première night of Richard Loring's award-winning musical, "African Footprint" on Friday 27 December at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town.

"African Footprint", with the hypnotic heartbeat of the African drum and the inspiring words of poet Don Mattera dramatically stating "This land...South of Africa...!", against the backdrop of the haunting pennywhistle and the rich sounds of the saxophone, is truly reflective of the emerging "new" South African culture.
