People interested in joining the guild can contact van Niekerk at 873-5245. They meet every third Sunday of the month at the Suider Paarl NG church hall. Pic: Uh-Albry Reitz

Kry poliomiddel dié week

[ Top ]

* Polio vaccines will be administered to children under five at local clinics next week.

Street children 'not a lost cause'

[ Top ]

THE presence of street children is increasingly evident, and although the general consensus is that little can be done to make a difference in the lives of these destitute people, nothing could be further from the truth.

This is the opinion of Winnefred Solomon, co-ordinator of the Street Children Project in Paarl who recently took about 40 children on a weekend camp in Bain's Kloof.

"We want to make a difference and with community involvement, we can make it a reality."

The organisation plans to present a workshop for the immediate families of these youngsters, in association with the police, social services, schools and other roleplayers.

They need feedback from interested parties to assist in arranging a venue for the workshop to take place. For more information, contact Winnefred on 072-359-3089.

Bridal show at Spier

[ Top ]

THE third FAB exhibition, Cape Town's biggest fashion and bridal exhibition, will once again be hosted at Spier from 21 to 23 June.

The exhibition offers visitors an extravaganza of bridal wear, fashion wear for a special occassion, accessories, beauty products and make-overs, as well as a host of products and services needed by the bridal couple on their wedding day.

A host of Cape Town's well-known, as well as exciting new designers, will be showcasing their unique designs throughout the three day period and visitors can look forward to interaction with a host of exhibitors in this field.

Anyone in need of a garment for a special occasion such as the matric farewell or a wedding, may discuss their needs with participating designers.

In addition to the static displays, colour analysis by professionals, live music and demonstrations will form part of the happenings.

The Wine Connoisseur Exhibition will also be an added attraction this year.

This exhibition is also happening on the Estate during the same period and gives Dad and husband-to-be the perfect opportunity to choose a great wine for the wedding reception.

For more information, contact 981-4737.
