SINCE its inception in 2000, the North Sea Jazz Festival Cape Town has included a photographic exhibition as part of the visual arts mix.
The 2004 exhibition will feature an American photographer whose black and white photographs of jazz performers are instantly recognisable. They hang on the walls of almost every jazz club in the world - Herman Leonard. Exhibiting alongside Leonard are two of South Africa's 'most famous' - George Hallett and Alf Khumalo.
The exhibition will be held at the newly instituted 'DuoTone Gallery', at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The naming of the gallery and the official opening of the exhibition, by Minister Kader Asmal, will take place at 18:30 on Friday. Although an 'invitation only' opening, festival organisers espAfrika has a limited number of tickets available for members of the public. Telephone Tshepiso Sello at espAfrika 422-5653. |
