Tammy-Anne sê dankie

Leigh Reitz

[ Top ]

BO: MOEDERLIEFDE.

"'n Mens besef altyd in jou donkerste tye watter belangrike rol jou ma in jou lewe speel.

My ma is my beste vriendin."

Task team against poverty in Valley

[ Top ]

A TASK team under the leadership of Drakenstein Municipal Council and the local Department of Welfare, was chosen to drive the poverty alleviation programme that was started in February.

At a recent meeting of roleplayers from the different governmental institutions in the valley, it was decided to develop a draft memorandum of understanding.

They also decided to broaden the base and get faith-based and other NGO's on board.

The Department of Social Services is going to second a staff member to the Drakenstein Municipality to help with the administrative side of the programme.

An indaba to thrash out issues such as a common understanding of and approach to poverty, strategies and projects will be held in the near future.

It was emphasised that everything must be linked to the IDP (Integrated Development Plan).

NGO's and faith-based organisations that want their information on the databasis for future meetings, can write to The Poverty Alleviation Programme, Community Services, PO Box 12, Paarl, 7620 or fax to 872-8054.

The concert includes Haydn's Trio in D Major, Von Weber's Trio in G Major and a new South African composition by Hans Huyssen based on a Sena-Tonga shepherd's song.

The concert starts at 19:00 in La Motte's historic cellar. On their arrival, guests will be welcomed with a drink. Each concert is concluded with a get-together where concertgoers can mingle with the artists while enjoying La Motte wines served with light snacks.
