	Christusfees op hande Imbizo fokus in Paarl Bespreek vir konferensie Prayers for hope Boland Botanical Society

WELLINGTON hou van Maandag tot Sondag 20 April hul jaarlikse Christusfees.

By hierdie derde Christusfees word voortgebou op vorige jare se suksesse, veral die Passiespel onder leiding van Rozelle Drudè wat Goeie Vrydagaand in Victoriapark aangebied word.

Die program begin Maandag met die jeug wat 'n menseketting gaan vorm teen geweld, asook 'n fakkelloop.

Behalwe die tradisionele Goeie Vrydag Nagmaaldienste in die verskillende gemeentes, bestaan die week se program uit 'n sang- en musiekaand, seminare, 'n voetewasseremonie, 'n pretloop, asook 'n verskeidenheid van programme vir die jeug.

'n Beplande 2000 kospakkies word weer voorberei wat die Saterdagoggend aan kerkleiers in die gemeenskap oorhandig sal word vir hul wat nie kos op die tafel het nie, as 'n gebaar van omgee.

Bo en behalwe die groot finansiële bydrae van die plaaslike sakelui om die uitgawes te dek, word 'n oproep gedoen op groothandelaars, supermarkte, kruideniers en inwoners om hul kosmandjie-harte oop te maak en ruimhartig te gee.

Nie-bederfbare voedsel kan afgegee word by die NG-kerkkantoor in Kerkstraat.

Die Saterdag word 'n feesmark in Victoriapark gehou, wat 'n boekeverkoping deur Lux Verbi, tientalle stalletjies, asook 'n vermaaklikheidsprogram sal insluit.

'n Hoogtepunt is die Gospel Jeugfees die Saterdagaand op Boland Stadion wanneer Cor en Letitia Uys, oftewel O/Karoolus & Lente van Radiokansel se Maranathaland-faam optree.

Die Radiokansel Wellington Christusfees word die Sondagaand om 19:00 afgesluit op Boland Stadion waartydens dr Clifford Heys die prediker sal wees, saam met die Maranathaland-vriende, O/Karoolus & Lente. 'n Groep plaaslike sangers en musikante sal voorgaan met lofprysing en aanbidding.

Imbizo fokus in Paarl

DIE Direkteur van Maatskaplike Dienste in die Wes-Kaap, Virginia Petersen, is Saterdagoggend om 10:00 die spreker by 'n Imbizo Fokusvergadering in die Strauss saal in Klein Drakensteinweg.

Die doelwit is om gesprekke te voer aangaande die staat se betrokkenheid by die gemeenskap en hoe die lewens van inwoners verbeter kan word.

Dit is 'n geleentheid vir die inwoners van Paarl om hul stemme te laat hoor en hul idees te gee oor hoe om probleme te oorkom en hoe om vrywilligers beter te benut in die implementeringsproses.

Gratis busvervoer word verskaf van 08:00 vanaf die Mbekweni biblioteek, Daljosafat Kliniek in Fairyland en die Dalvale Garage in Groenheuwel, Broadway Superette in Chicago, Magnolia Food-o-Rama in Lantana, die BP Garage naby die Tolhek, Windmeul en Slot-van-die-Paarl Skool, die Simondium Lodge in Simondium en Laborie Sentra in Suider-Paarl.

Bespreek vir konferensie

DIE Paarlberg NG-gemeente bied van 1 tot 6 Mei die 'Turn the Tide' konferensie aan. Registrasie sluit op 17 April en 'n fooi van R10 is betaalbaar, ongeag die hoeveelheid kursusse wat bygewoon word.

Donderdag 1 Mei is daar 'n gratis aanbieding van Bruce Wilkinson se 'Transformation Africa', in die Paarlberg kerkgebou en ook op die Wellington Boland stadion. Kontak Gary Knapp (083-653-0581).

Veertien kursusse word tussen 2 en 6 Mei aangebied in die kerkgebou.

Prayers for hope

BOLAND Transformation will take place at the Boland Rugby Stadium on 1 May and will incorporate Paarl, Wellington, Franschhoek and Malmesbury.

An estimated 6 to 8 million people will be praying for the continent of Africa. The Vision for Transformation Africa is 'Africa for Christ' and the theme for this year is 'Repentance'.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to assist in the organising of the prayer day (intercessors, logistics managers, fund raisers, etc) or any church which has as yet had no contact with the Transformation Committee should contact Juanita at 872-2421.

"This is an appeal to corporate business to support the Transformation process in meeting the needs of the communities in the Boland.

"Funds are needed for the organising of the Day of Prayer such as bus and train transportation for those living in the poorer communities, sound and staging, advertising, etc.

Boland Botanical Society

A MEETING to discuss the formation of a new branch of the Botanical Society of South Africa, will be held on Wednesday 7 May at 19:00 at the Council Chambers at the Franschhoek Town Hall.

The aim is to combine the resources of the Villiersdorp, Franschhoek, Paarl, Wellington and Stellenbosch communities to establish a branch of the society which will organise monthly meetings, talks and outings that are supportive of the aims of the Botanical Society and the interests of the local members, including educational institutions.

To this end an open meeting will be held at which Col Van Blerke will give a talk on the aims and objectives of the National Botanical Society.
