A BIG all breeds dog show will be held at the Paarl Cricket Grounds on Saturday 19 October from 09:00 to 15:00. It is organised by the Breede Rivier Vallei Kennel Club as their 23rd annual open championship.
There will be categories for breed judging, agility, dog jumping and obedience judged by a panel of seven overseas judges and some locals.
The foreign judges are from Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
There will be a total of 89 different breeds on show including the country's top dogs who will be competing for top honours.
The biggest number of entries are from Bull Terriers, Siberian Husky, Dobermann, Bulldogs and Labradors from as far afield as Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal and the Free State.
There will be catering all day by the Round Table of Paarl.
There will also be various trade stands where folk can buy dog items and there will be opportunity to speak to breeders.
On Friday 18 October at the same venue from 09:00, the Kennel Union of Southern Africa will be hosting an FCI International breed show where the awards count towards an International Champion.
Come and meet "Leo" the Shih Tzu who recently appeared on the Carte Blanche program. He is currently the winner of the Kennel Union Show Dog of the Year award for 2002.
Among the competitors are Boxer "Tortuga rebel Rowser" from Durbanville currently third in the ratings and Newfoundland "Table Bay Aces High" from Riviersonderend. |
