[ Top ]

* Cellar workers won big prizes with a wine tasting contest.

THE official opening of the Wemmershoek Water Pipeline by the Minister of Water Affairs, Ronnie Kasrils, takes place today in Wemmershoek.

Kasrils will unveil a plaque in the presence of roleplayers like the Boland mayor, Clarence Johnson, and hand over a ceremonial key to the Mayor of Stellenbosch to signify the transfer of the water scheme to Stellenbosch Municipality.

The choir of the Wemmershoek Primary School will entertain the guests with their singing.

* A public meeting to discuss the construction of 80 housing units at La Motte Forestry Village will be discussed at an opening house meeting on 18 September from 18:00 to 20:30 at the La Motte community hall.

The houses are intended for use by staff employed during the construction of the Berg River Dam and the land must be rezoned for this purpose.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting where information about the project will be provided and the project team introduced to the public. The meeting signals the start of the environmental impact assessment of the proposed housing project.
