ALTHOUGH Julia Spratte (18), exchange student from Germany, and Jana Nolte (grade 10) at Girls' High School are two lively girls, they were not up to any mischief during Spratte's four-week stay here in Paarl.
Or so they say!
The comments about Julia meeting a very special friend here, are silenced by a few giggles from the friends surrounding her at Paarl Girls' High School. Julia was so impressed by the landscape here in South Africa and Paarl, that she plans on returning next year.
Another highlight was the recent Inter-schools clash between Boys' High and Gymnasium High School - all the more reason why she'll be setting foot on local shores soon again.
"I will definitely be coming back next year for the Inter-schools. It was one of the highlights of my stay here in Paarl. I also made such a lot of friends.
"I have fallen absolutely in love with the friendly people in this country.
"We did a lot of sightseeing during the holidays and I especially enjoyed being at the Waterfront," she said.
Not being used to any South African dishes, potjiekos soon became one of her favourites and banished all her homesickness.
"My host family really treated me well and I felt like part of the family immediately. See you next year," she smiles.
As part of the farewell-bid, the school will be hosting a bazaar in true German style on Saturday from 09:30 at the school. |
