[ Top ]

A dog's life

[ Top ]

BODI was playing happily in her yard in Wellington North on Saturday when her life changed forever.

The six-month-old German Shepherd became the latest statistic in the increasing number of pedigreed dogs disappearing in Wellington.

Dog thieves were seen snatching her. She was bundled into a shopping trolley and carted off into the unknown.

Now her owner, Roger Jorgenson of Versailles farm, is prepared to move mountains in his search for his Bodi.

He has not managed to find her, but his search has led him to at least one other stolen dog.

Another young German Shepherd had been sold to residents of Carstens Street, near the golf course, by two men who wanted R30 for the dog.

"The puppy matched the description of another dog that I heard had gone missing, so I gave the owner the address, and he got his dog back.

"People should report the disappearance of their pets to the police," Jorgenson urged. "It is like losing a family member when your dog disappears."

No trace was found of a ten-week-old Boxer puppy, as well as a four-month-old Jack Russell, who disappeared from their yards in Berg-en-Dal area recently.

Also still missing is an eight-month-old Staffordshire terrier, who was stolen in central Wellington last month.

Contact Jorgenson on 082-564-2512.
