GESKENK. Nedbank het onlangs 20 gebruikte rekenaars oorhandig aan Pauw Gedenk Primêr, saam met al die nodige bykomende toerusting soos drukkers en modems ter waarde van R15 000, om 'n reke naarsentrum te begin. By die oor handiging was (agter van links) Philip Wessels (direkteur: besigheidsake van Nedbank), Sally Meyer (prinsipaal) en burgemeester Herman Bailey (oud leerling). Voor is opgewonde leer linge Davine Isaacs, Clinton Laing, Samantha Johannes en Marisha Flowers. Die gemeenskap sal ook toe gang hê tot die sentrum. |

PLAASLIKE wynmakers het uitgeblink by die International Wine Challenge in Londen, en met sewentien medaljes weggestap.
Vier van die Paarl-streek se wyne het uitstekend gevaar, en goue medaljes losgeslaan.
Hulle is Boschendal se 2002 Chardonnay, Glen Carlou se 2002 Shiraz, Porcupine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 en Diemersfontein se Carpe Diem 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon het elk 'n goue toekenning ontvang (en die Carpe Diem 2002 'n brons).
Glen Carlou het verder 'n silwer asook twee brons medaljes ontvang.
Fairview het uitstekend gevaar met twee goud, drie silwer en vier brons toekennings.
Die goud was vir Fairview Beacon Block Shiraz 2001 en Fairview Pegleg Carignan 2002. |

THE US-based multinational HJ Heinz and Pioneer Foods have agreed to establish a joint venture company, Heinz Foods South Africa. It will utilise Heinz's world-class technology to manufacture products in South Africa.
Heinz's flagship products will now be produced in South Africa under brand names like Today, John West, Wellington's and Heinz with Brian Küsel as managing director of the new company,
"By manufacturing products previously imported into South Africa, the joint venture will create jobs and provide export opportunities to other African countries," says Pioneer Foods managing director, André Hanekom.
The transaction is subject to approval by the South African competition authorities. |

THE financial results of KWV Limited for 2003 show further improvement on last year's, indicating that the company is recovering from the restructuring of the past few years.
In the year to June 2003 attributable profit increased by 122% to R180,7 million whereas adjusted headline earnings showed growth of 31,4% to R113,4 million.
Growth of 125% in adjusted headlines earnings on a restated base was attained in 2002.
This result indicates that the group has achieved a compounded growth in adjusted headline earnings of 37,5% per annum over the past four years. |
