THE SCIENCE AND MATHS TEACHER ASSISTANT PROGRAMME
Opportunities exist for persons to work in schools as teacher assistants.
Persons with Physical Science and Mathematics (Higher or Standard grade) as matric subjects are invited to apply.
The successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to become fully qualified teachers through a process of in-service training. Study fees will be fully paid and the teacher assistants will be enrolled at a tertiary institution.
Requirements: The applicants must have matric and must have passed physical science and mathematics (standard or higher grade). The person must be able to work with children; must have good interpersonal skills and able to function in the school environment.
Duties: The person serves as an assistant to the maths and science teachers. The assistant will work primarily in the grades 6-9. They will perform duties such as setting up of experiments, facilitating group work, assisting in individual tutoring of learners, help setting up maths Olympiads and science expos.
