'n LANKGEKOESTERDE ideaal het onlangs waar geword met die opening van die nuwe aanbouings by die Haven skuiling in die Paarl. Die elf nuwe kamers sal 33 mense, hoofsaaklik ouer mense, huisves. Nick le Roux, bestuurder van die skuiling, vertel dat bouers hulle R1,1 miljoen gekwoteer het vir die werk. "Ons het besluit om dit self te doen, met inwoners van die Haven en ons eie stene. Toe bou ons die gebou vir R800 000." Le Roux sê hulle benodig nog beddegoed soos kussingslope en lakens, asook geldelike steun. THE Athlone Institute Trust will again be granting bursaries for tertiary students who live in Paarl and Mbekweni areas. A maximum of 20 bursary loans will be available to first year students with serious financial need, and who obtained a minimum aggregate of 950 in the matriculation examination. The Trust will also grant a number of bursaries for tertiary students from their second year onwards. These bursaries will be awarded on academic merit or financial need of the applicant as primary considerations. The fund has provided bursaries and bursary loans to promising and needy students for the past five years. By the end of this year the trust will have assisted a total of 334 students to the value of R926 000 at various registered tertiary institutions in South Africa. Application forms and information are available and can be obtained at the offices of the Bethel United Congregational Church, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Immanuel VGK, St Stephen's Anglican Church, Zionskerk and the Mbekweni Methodist Church. Completed application forms must be forwarded to the Secretary, PO Box 846, Huguenot, 7645 by 16 January. |

YOUNG DYNAMIX is op soek na wedergebore jongmense om deel te wees van 'n jeugbedieningpspan wat op die been gebring gaan word vir Paarl. Die span, onder die leierskap van Rudi Young, sal aan die Paarlse tak van die Lig en Lewe Selkerk behoort. Om aansoek te doen, moet jy ongetroud, tweetalig (Engels/Afrikaans), tussen 17 en 25 jaar oud en van enige Christelike kerkverband wees. Daar sal net 12 tot 15 lede wees en aktiwiteite begin op 12 Januarie. Studente sal bedieningsvaardighede leer wat drama, berading, musiek, produksies, gemeenskapsdiens en leierskap insluit.
