FOOD and wine lovers are in for a treat when the ninth annual Cape Gourmet Festival takes place in Cape Town from 7 May.
Part of the Gourmet Festival is Laborie Restaurant Week, which will see the Cape's top restaurants open their doors to a fortnight of delectable dining from May 7 to 22.
Superb award winning Laborie wines will accompany tasty two-course lunches and dinners at special festival prices - an absolute must for food and wine connoisseurs.
Among the participating local restaurants are French Connection (Franschhoek), Laborie and Pontac (Paarl).
* The Good Food and Wine Show, Southern Africa's largest culinary expo, will open its doors from May 20 to 23 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
This show promises to deliver the latest innovative global trends and technology and will see the celebrity chefs present hands on workshops, amazing demonstrations and a plethora of delectable taste sensations with food and wine experiences from around the world.
* The Tastic Table of Unity takes place on May 16 and will see key religious leaders, top celebrities and South Africans from all walks of life celebrate a day of peace and come together to pray for peace and unity in our beautiful land.
* The grand finale - the Gourmet Signature Banquet - happens on May 22 and is a black-tie affair with a memorable gourmet meal prepared by the international chefs.
This gala event will include world-class live entertainment and a charity auction, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Children's Hospital.
