THE luxurious Kleinbosch guest-farm in Daljosaphat celebrated the extensive improvement of its accommodation facilities following the restoration of two historic 18th century buildings on the farm. The one is the Hugenote Gedenkskool (assisted by donations from the public) and the other is the Malherbe House, birthplace of the author DF Malherbe. The original manor-house on the farm dates from 1792 and was the home of SJ du Toit, editor of the first Afrikaans newspaper, Die Afrikaans Patriot. The farm is now known as Augusta Kleinbosch guest-farm and is owned by businessman Ulrich Froese of Augusta Hospital Group in Germany. The group is involved in medical and social institutions such as hospitals, research centres and care facilities for the frail. |

Dit is geïntegreer met 'n geografiese inligtingstelsel (GIS) wat beteken dat die gebruiker gerekenariseerde kaarte van sy produksiegebied kan sien en alle inligting oor 'n blok kan bekom deur slegs daarop te klik. A SECOND scoping meeting to discuss the proposed development of a residential housing estate, restaurant and guest-house on La Cotte farm will be held at the Franschhoek Council Chamber on 31 January at 18:00. Doug Jeffery Environmental Consultants have been appointed by L Maingard to undertake an environmental assessment of the proposal, in terms of the Environment Conservation Act. The site for the proposed development on 31,8 hectares is at the north-eastern end of De Wet Street, Franschhoek. It is currently used for agricultural purposes and contains a number of historical buildings. The intention is to re-establish La Cotte as an agricultural unit with vineyards, restore the historical complex and convert it into a guest-house and restaurant. In addition, 27 residential erven are to be developed on the elevated part of the site, above the existing werf. The aim of the meeting is to provide further information regarding the proposed development and to identify issues which need to be addressed to inform the EIA process.
