AWARD-WINNING diva Amanda Strydom will open the 2005 Oude Libertas Summer Season with her new show "Mooiweer en Warm",
a furnace of rock, blues and ballads running on 1, 3 and 4 December at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre, Stellenbosch.
Described as 'magnificent in the superlative degree' at the recent Aardklop festival, Mooiweer en Warm is a feel good
musical spectacular in pure celebration heat, warmth and the weather of summer.
The repertoire includes new songs by Strydom as well as classics performed with new artistic arrangement.
The show opens with the title track Mooiweer en Warm moving onto work by Hennie Aucamp, Cat Stevens and the
Eagles.
A rendition of George Gershwin's Summertime will be performed in Zulu, written by Concord Nkabinde as well as songs by
Dutch lyricists Eugen Gaiser.
Strydom is accompanied by musicians Janine Neethling (keyboard), Juan Oosthuizen (guitar), Graeme Currie (bass guitar)
and Vinnie Henrico (drums). Backing vocalists are from the cult South African a Capella group Cutt Glass and include Bondina Osterhoff, Karen Meiring and Karen Wessels.
