aggressive Rejuan Botha leg before wicket in the seventh over of the day.
With Ultallyn Ernstzen (3/40) also bowling impressively, the Boland captain Wallace Albertyn (23 not out) ran out of batting
partners by the 40th over.
Opening batsman Bobby Nicholson (29) gave the Novel Paarl innings a kick-start with four boundaries, but it was the unbeaten 54 run
third wicket partnership between Dave Callaghan (39 not out) and Wesley Euley (46 not out) which saw the home team's bowlers throw in the towel.
Albertyn and De Lange failed to bother the visiting batsmen with the new ball, and it was left to Joshua Swanepoel (2/28) to give
his team a glimmer of hope.
Callaghan took his batting average this season to 157 with six stylish boundaries, and with Euley living up to his reputation with
six boundaries and two sixes, the Paarlites needed only 29 overs to clinch the match by 14:15, consolidating their position at the top of the log.
Paarl II's youngsters put up their hands in the absence of a number of experienced batsmen at the Parys Grounds on Saturday,
scoring 274/6 in a devastating batting display against Hermanus.
Electing to bowl first on a perfect batting strip, the visitors were punished by the 19-year-old Graham Adams (95), who hit six
boundaries and four sixes in a quest for his maiden century.
Good support from the reliable William Wilson (33), Cameron Cupido (25) and Alfredo Adams (48 not out) put the match out of reach
for the visitors.
Bennie du Preez (26) and Piet Geldenhuys (20) offered some resistance, but their team collapsed for 96, giving Paarl victory by a
massive 178 runs.
Opening bowler Heinrich Daniels (4/19) continued his good form, ably assisted by Alfredo Adams (3/20) and Richard Cunningham (3/20).
Easterns forfeited points to Paarl III, while Ceres forfeited points to Paarl IV.
Paarl derby
The Novel Paarl team hosts Young People's Cricket Club at the Parys Grounds in their annual derby match on Saturday.
The home team, leading the log comfortably after seven successive victories, destroyed their traditional rivals at the House of
Pain last season, and Young Peoples were lucky to salvage a draw at Dal Josaphat in the return match, when Justin Ontong (79) was dropped in the slips on zero.
Peoples will make a mistake if they focus all their attention on former Protea International Dave Callaghan, as Wesley Euley, with
a batting average of 97 for Paarl this season, is also in devastating form.
Edwin Jacobs, Hubert Ontong and Henley Julies will be expected to keep the Paarl scoring rate in check, but will have to pull out
all the stops if they hope to contain the rampant Novel Paarl batsmen.
Young Peoples' captain Rupert Bailey has been their mainstay with the bat, but he will need solid support from the likes of Brendon
Adams, Winston Fortuin and Quinton Kannemeyer.
However, the Paarl bowling attack has this season been largely responsible for their top of the log position, and Young Peoples'
10th position on the log suggests that an upset is unlikely.
