DRACULA - Love stronger than Death, the untold story of a true love that never dies, will be performed in the Old Mill Theatre in Paarl from tomorrow to 4 September. A great warrior, Prince Vlad who defended the cross to protect the church from all enemies, returned from battle against the Turks to find his true love dead by her own hand due to his enemies' deception. Unbearable pain and rage leads the young prince to avenge her death. He rises from death as a fallen angel. Cursed to walk through the centuries, he feeds on living blood. Forever doomed to do so, he finds his true love again - four hundred years later in late nineteenth century London. The play is adapted and directed by Zetti van den Heuvel. With André Strydom, Anuschka Schenke, Suzanne Nel, Ettienne Snyman, Jerome van den Heuvel, Eddie Harley, Pieter Creus, Rohann Wessels, Alicia Louw, Odette Fourie, Jeanine Terblanche and Anton Walters. DIE KWV Paarl Talentkompetisie is vanjaar twintig jaar oud en dit is ook die laaste keer wat dié kompetisie môre-aand in die Paarl plaasvind. Van volgende jaar verskuif dit na Worcester, onder leiding van Johan Groenewald en Anchen Schreuder. KWV sal die hoofborg bly. Vanjaar se kompetisie beloof om, oudergewoonte, vol hoogtepunte te wees. Vyf van die afgelope 20 jaar se wenners tree as gaskunstenaars op môreaand in die ouditorium van die Polisiekollege. Hulle is Robert Germishuys, Charlene Truter, Mareli Serfontein, Felicity Buffel en Liani van der Vyver. ONE of the most exciting trios on the musical horizon, Nobilis, will be performing at the Nederburg Homestead on Sunday at 17:00. The programme combine traditional romantic repertoire, the more avant-garde and original jazz arrangements with the highest levels of virtuosity and musicianship. Pianist Stephen Prutsman, violinist Ruggero Allifranchini and cellist Suren Bagratuni each have distinguished careers as solo, recital and chamber musicians, and have appeared individually and as a trio with major orchestras and at premier chamber music festivals throughout the United States and Europe. The programme will include Schubert's Piano Trio No 2 in E Flat Major, Suite from The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky and arrangements of Gypsy and Jazz numbers. DIE bekende sanger Nataniël is die spesiale kunstenaar wat tydens die Voorbrandfees vir vanjaar se Stokkiesdraai-fees op Wellington gaan optree. KWV10 Brandewyn bied Nataniël in Konsert op Donderdag 2 September om 19:00 in die Wellington Stadsaal. Nataniël is 'n kunstenaar met vele gesigte wat reeds verskeie kunsvorme bemeester het. THE second semester of the La Motte Concert Programme starts on Saturday 28 August with pianist Gustavo Romero playing works by Bach-Liszt, Schubert, Medtner and Chopin. * On 18 September Anmari van der Westhuizen (cello) and Elna van der Merwe (piano) present a programme of works by Arvo Pärt and Pfitzner and a number of Mendelssohn variations. * The Potch Trio with Albie van Schalkwyk (piano), Piet Koornhof (violin) and Human Coetzee (cello) are there on 2 October. * On 6 November Carlo Guaitoli (piano) plays works by Chopin, Piazzolla and Gershwin. * Hanneli Rupert and Friends present their Christmas concert with singing and narration on 26 & 27 November.
