EMPLOYMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Position:Field Researcher: Infant feeding and child health

Duration:12 months

      Placement:This position will be a full-time position based in Paarl

      Salary:Negotiable-based on experience and salary history

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct home visits to participate in a research study on infant feeding and child health in the Paarl Region.

2. Recruit new mothers to participate in the above research study.

3. Co-ordinate, supervise and manage community health workers to conduct additional home visits.

4. Co-ordinate research with local hospital, clinics, District Health Office and NGO's working in the area.

5. Prepare monthly reports.

6. Assure and protect data quality and participant confidentiality.

Desired qualities and skills:

1. Degree or Diploma in health sciences or related field.

2. Experience in conducting field research and/or co-ordinating projects at the community level.

3. Basic knowledge of infant health and nutrition.

4. Valid driver's licence and willing to travel throughout the region.

5. Trilingual Xhosa/English/Afrikaans - good verbal and written communication skills.

6. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of health information.

7. Computer literacy.

8. Project co-ordination skills.
