FRANSCHHOEK gears up to celebrate the winelands during the Franschhoek Harvest Festival from 15 to 17 March at Bridge House School.
The festival will boast dozens of wine and cheese producers as well as some of Franschhoek's best chefs doing cook-offs with wine, cheese and chocolate makers doing demonstrations, spicy discussions as well as tastings.
Celebrated as South Africa's culinary capital, Franschhoek chefs and producers will assemble to pay homage to the harvest. Wines, cheeses, olives, trout chocolate and much more for food fans to enjoy.
Aside from the opportunity to sample a wide range of flavours from the valley, the Franschhoek Harvest Festival will celebrate the winelands with jazz music throughout the weekend and the opportunity to buy wines, cheeses and other produce at cellar-door prices.
Part of the fund-raisingfun will be an auction by former Springbok Christian Stewart, now with Auction Alliance.
Parents are invited to bring their children (entry for under 12's is free) and there will be facilities that will entertain both young and more mature children and a crèche for toddlers.
Tickets are available through Computicket and from Vignerons de Franschhoek outlets and people with tickets will enter through a fast-track entrance to avoid the queue.
R60 entry tickets include a collector's wine-tasting glass and all tastings and demonstrations are free.
The festival will be open on the Friday and Saturday from 10:00 until 20:00, and the Sunday from 10:00 until 18:00.
