Blessing of the harvest

[ Top ]

wgrapes30FOR several years patrons of Môreson have flocked to the picturesque riverside wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley to make their own wine during the Blessing of the Harvest and then enjoy a harvest feast at Bread & Wine, Môreson's Vineyard Restaurant.

In 2002, for the first time, Môreson hosted a similar Blessing of the Harvest in Johannesburg at Malachite's Restaurant.

In February Môreson will be hosting five Blessings of the Harvest. Three

GRAPES. Katharina von Gerhardt and Justin O'Riain enjoyed the 2002 Blessing of the Harvest Festival at Môreson wine farm.

events will take place at Môreson's Bread & Wine Restaurant in Frans-chhoek and two events will take

place up north - one in Gauteng and one in Mpumalanga.

The events will start with a glass of Môreson's Méthode Cap Classique Sparkling Wine. At the Franschhoek events guests will handpick their own grapes off the vines.

All the guests will be able to enjoy a traditional barefoot pressing of the grapes. There will be prizes for those who press the most wine from a basket of grapes.

Guests will also be able to enter their wine label designs in a competition. The winning design will be used as the official label of the 2003 Blessing of the Harvest wine.

Môreson's winemaking team will complete the winemaking process and specially bottle this wine for the participants at a later date. The pressing of the grapes will be followed by a harvest feast.

The Franschhoek events will take place on Saturday 8 February from 10:30 (adults only) at R160 per head; Sunday, 9 February from 10:30 (family day) at R160 per head and Friday, 14 February from 19:00 (Valentine's Black Tie Night Harvest at R300 per head).

The cost per head excludes drinks, but includes sparkling wine on arrival and a bottle of the wine produced on the day, which will be available at a later date.

To book, contact Tina Jewell at Bread & Wine on 876-3692 or breadandwine@moreson.co.za. Bookings confirmed by credit card payment only.

Rus op La Motte

[ Top ]

Briljante duo in Goodwood

[ Top ]
